Sound Essentials and the Hear You Go Studio provides music and audio content creation for linear and interactive media.
The Studio is operated by composer, sound designer, and bassist André La Velle.
Growing up in the Napa Valley, André began his career as a bassist performed and studied both classical and jazz music during his undergrad work in Northern California. His interest in sound design and media led him to get a degree in audio engineering at Ex’pression College. After graduation, he interned at American Zoetrope. Soon after, he was hired to work at Electronic Arts as a music supervisor and a sound designer.
While at EA, André designed and implemented an adaptive music playback engine for use in open world video games. In addition, he did extensive sound design, music editing, and mixing for linear and non-linear aspects of video game audio.
After leaving EA to support his wife’s academic career, André was accepted to the Penn State School of Music where he earned a M.M. in Music Composition and a M.A. in Music Theory. During his study, he became interested in how music and sound could manipulate a listeners perception of time. After graduation, he moved to Charlottesville, VA and started the “Hear You Go Studio.”
André continues his work in composition, sound design and music production in addition to being in demand as a performer in the Charlottesville area. When not working for clients, he is researching and designing an adaptive music and sound engine for environments – real and virtual.
